I had a fantastic time staying at Matemwe Lodge for 4 days. The beautiful garden surrounding the chalet provided a unique opportunity to see various animals up close, such as bush babies, hermit crabs, and giant snails. The spacious chalet with a sea-view terrace was a highlight, and the breakfast and dinner were delicious, especially when enjoyed at the beach or by the pool. The swimming pool with a view of the ocean was amazing, and the bar served great cocktails.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Matemwe Lodge was worth every penny. The room exceeded our expectations with its size, design, and the added bonus of a small pool. The location was incredibly peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful jungle conservation area. The staff treated us like royalty, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The personalized service was faultless, and the themed buffet dinners were a delightful culinary experience. We left feeling relaxed and completely satisfied.
The breakfast selection could have been improved.

The vibrant African décor and the beautiful prints that match the dazzling flowers and the impossibly blue sea created such a lively and joyful atmosphere. The hotel's general areas were well-maintained and easily accessible for senior people like me.

I loved the breezy thatched structures, the amazing food, and the beautiful beach. The staff were so friendly and the snorkeling was incredible.
Oh, and let's not forget the joy of paying inflated taxi prices and being questioned about my boyfriend's legitimacy as a guest. So much fun!

Individually decorated rooms with ethnic details, delicious local food, and a variety of water sports available.
Just loved paying extra for everything, especially the privilege of not having air conditioning in the ridiculous humidity. So refreshing!

I chose Lodge for its proximity to Dada Zanzibar Production and Cooking Site. However, the property pleasantly surprised me with their impeccable service and amenities. The Mnemba Island Marine Conservation area, with its diverse wildlife, was a highlight. The breakfast and lunch options were delicious, and the poolside bar served delectable cocktails. The Beach House with a private chef was a fantastic touch.
Limited lighter food options available.

During my stay at Matemwe Lodge, I had the most fantastic culinary experience. The chef went above and beyond to cater to my preferences, ensuring that I had lighter, fresher options like green salad, vegetables, and grilled fish without any sauce or garnish. They truly made an effort to accommodate my requests, even if they were not on the menu.

The rooms at Matemwe Lodge are absolutely amazing! I stayed in one of the independent suites and it felt like my own little piece of paradise. The veranda with the hammock and couch was the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the stunning views. The deep soaking bathtub in the private bathroom was pure luxury. I felt like a VIP guest with all the complimentary toiletries provided.
Personally, I found the idea of having a butler in the four Retreat Suites a bit unnecessary. But hey, some people might enjoy the extra pampering!

The food was delicious and plentiful, with options like grilled octopus and crab claws. The chalet was glorious, with a private hammock and plunge pool offering stunning views of the beach. The staff were lovely and friendly, taking excellent care of me when I had an accident late at night.
The beach experience was impacted by the usual low tides in East Zanzibar.
